Bags
Under Your Eyes
Don't you hate it when you can't
get a good night's sleep and it shows on your
face?
It's never fun to wakeup after
a restless night's sleep and have bags under
your eyes. It's even worse when you realize
that sleep deprivation may not be the whole
problem.
If you smoke, you're four times
as likely as nonsmokers to report feeling unrested
after a night's sleep, according to a Johns
Hopkins study.
Why the lack of shut-eye? It's possible that
nightly nicotine withdrawal could be causing
you to toss and turn. And unfortunately, poor
sleep doesn't equal pretty looks.
Here are some ways to help you
get rid of and prevent bags under your eyes.
It's no surprise that as you
get older and busier and your life gets more
hectic and filled with things to do, and you
just get tired. It almost seems like a trademark
of adulthood, to constantly be tired and just
a bit sleep deprived. After longer amounts of
sleep deprivation, there starts to be physical
manifestations of your tiredness, and one of
those manifestations is bags under the eyes.
Bags under your eyes are never a great look
and can actually negatively affect things like
job interviews, social events, and dates. If
you suffer from having bags under your eyes,
here are a few ways to get rid of them.
Bags under your eyes are often
caused by a lack of sleep, but can also be caused
or aggravated by other causes. These other causes
include allergies to food or cosmetics, water
retention, salty food, smoking, vitamin K deficiency,
and rubbing of the eyes. Each of these causes
can add to the bags under your eyes, and fortunately,
each of these can be treated with relative ease.
If the primary cause is allergies,
then take the appropriate measures to treat
the allergy. Take medication or remove yourself
from the allergen if possible. If you determine
that your bags are caused mainly because of
water retention, increase your water intake.
If you smoke, then take those measures you need
to quit; this form of remedying your bags will
probably take a bit longer, because quitting
smoking isn't exactly an overnight process.
Taking vitamin K supplements and other vitamins
and minerals will help if your bags are related
to vitamin deficiencies. You also should eat
healthy and get appropriate amounts of sleep.
Especially if your bags are related to poor
health and sleep patterns, then improving your
diet and sleep patterns is essential.
While you wait for the bags
under your eyes to go away, you can use makeup
to hide the full brunt of your bags. Use a concealer
that closely matches your skin tone; dab a bit
underneath the eyes so you can mitigate the
full effect of the bags under your eyes. However,
you definitely shouldn't overdo the makeup.
If you put too much concealer under your eyes,
then you'll really only emphasize the bags,
making them look worse.
So, if you suffer from bad bags
under your eyes, rest assured that there is
a way to fix it. If you take the appropriate
measures to alter any lifestyle patterns (i.e.,
sleep, eating, exercise), then those bags under
your eyes will fade and you'll be good to go!
